Contemporary
Contemporary/Lyrical Dynamic shapes and flowing movements.
Some say a cross between ballet and jazz. Music and style vary from romantic ballads to drum beats to rock. A lot of passion is exuded in contemporary. A very popular style for all ages and especially for those who yearn to dance from their hearts.
Jazz
Bright, upbeat, dynamic dance style. Often current pop music choreographed with loads of style and cardio to aid fitness. Stretch and strengthening. A very happy and exciting dance style.
Broadway
Acting and reacting to musical theatre stories and songs as well as songs from television, movies, children’s theatre and stage. Harmonies are also taught. Very uplifting and expressive classes.
Acro
Learning to flip requires strength and flexibility with drills down the mats. Determination, patience, encouragement for oneself and others are learned in a happy, safe and uplifting environment. Flipping makes you happy!
Pilates/core strength/stretching
Core strength is a very important part of a dancer’s life. Building the right muscles brings greater intelligence, ease, flow, and dynamics to a dancer’s work. The class is joyous with uplifting music ( and a few groans and giggles along the way). Highly recommended for those with tight or weaker muscles. Great results guaranteed.
Hip Hop
Get down and groovy with some hip-hop at Boyd! This fun, energetic, upbeat style is sure to get your foot tapping. Hip Hop is a style of movement characterized by bounces and rocks to fun, boppy music.
