Tracey Boyd
Passion for DancePrincipal and leading RAD teacher
Tracey opened Boyd Dance Academy back in 1992 and under her direction has created a highly successful school for training ballet, contemporary and commercial dancers. Her past students dance in companies across Europe, lead Australian musicals, perform in top class cruise ships as well as many and varied commercial performances around Melbourne.
Tracey initially trained as a ballerina extensively in RAD classical ballet under the incredible tuition of Kathleen Gorham OBE, Karen Stevens, Hilary Debden, Jane Moore and full time with the amazing Eileen Tasker and Gaylene Stock OAM, CBE.
Ballet is Tracey’s great love and passion and has taught dance for more than 40 years.
Her career turned into a commercial one and she performed for many years in top Australian musicals as well as many and varied cabaret shows around Melbourne.
Tracey annually teaches audition classes for the Victorian Ballet Teachers Workshop as well as a guest teacher for Vanemuine Theatre Ballet company in Estonia.
Her love and knowledge of the arts is well respected and she has expanded the Boyd school to accommodate talented young teachers who bring fresh views to dance. I choose my staff based not just on their skill, but their ability to communicate clearly with warmth, kindness and inspiration for our students. We all share the love of music and dance which creates a beautiful and caring bond here at Boyd

Lili Gearon
Jnr Song & Dance teacher
Lili began dancing at the age of 3 at Boyd Dance Academy. She was with Boyd for over 13 years as a student studying RAD ballet, jazz, hip-hop contemporary and musical theatre.
Although Lili enjoyed a professional career in dance her love of detailed technique lead her to study Pilates which she brings to Boyd to aid students’ strength and flexibility in a safe and intelligent way. Lili is also our resident expert with the kinder classes teaching our babies far more than one thinks is possible ( with a lot of laughs).
Lili has a passion for sharing her knowledge with others and she says the last 10 years teaching at Boyd feels like she gets to constantly return home to her dance family.
Daniel Donovan
Yoga and ballet teacher
Daniel spent 12 years of he’s early childhood training in ballet, jazz and contemporary at Boyd before studying full-time Musical Theatre at BAPPA.
His interest in world affairs then led him to a degree in international relations at Monash University.
While studying, he began to discover the benefits of meditation and yoga.
Daniel found a passion for these practices and decided to share them with others. He learned to teach meditation from the Melbourne Meditation Centre and yoga from the Australian Yoga Academy. Daniel teaches yoga at a number of studios in the southeast of Melbourne.
His goal is to help others live a more conscious and peaceful life through the practice of yoga. Daniel also adores teaching the odd ballet class at Boyd encouraging detail and offering inspiring steps.
Hannah Vaughan
Jazz teacher
Hannah’s dance training covers 15 years, mostly at Boyd. From RAD ballet, jazz, contemporary, acro, cheer, and musical theatre plus many private lessons to hone her skills.
Hannah’s Brentwood musical leads include Cynthia Weil in ‘Beautiful; a Carol King musical’ and the colourful Tina Sparkle in ‘Strictly Ballroom’ She also had featured roles in ‘Mary Poppins’, ‘In The Heights’ ‘Freaky Friday’ and ‘Wicked’. Hannah also completed VET Dance and taught many dance classes through this time.
All this training has led her to Patrick’s studios full time where Hannah aims to bring the latest choreography back to the lucky Boyd students.
Hannah loves teaching because she gets to witness students navigate their own unique dance style from her choreography inspired by her personal experiences and knowledge, passed on from her dance mentors.
